U.S. regulatory status
Investigational in the U.S. Mazdutide is approved in China only.
What it is
Two different peptides that pair GLP-1’s appetite effects with glucagon’s effects on liver fat and energy use.
How it is thought to work
GLP-1 activity reduces hunger; glucagon activity increases fat burning in the liver.
Animations simplify biology for teaching. They are not a claim that this peptide works this way in people.
What the research shows
Phase 2 results are promising. Phase 3 trials are ongoing, with survodutide focused on MASH, an advanced form of fatty liver disease.
Safety and considerations
Gastrointestinal side effects similar to GLP-1 drugs. Not available outside trials in the U.S.
Our position
Education only. Worth knowing because fatty liver is common among the people we see.
