U.S. regulatory status
Not FDA-approved. Recommended (8–6) for the 503A list by FDA’s advisory committee in July 2026 for wound healing; FDA has not finalized that decision. Not currently offered.
What it is
A synthetic version of the active region of thymosin beta-4, a protein involved in cell movement and repair.
How it is thought to work
In animal studies it helps cells migrate into injured areas and supports new blood vessel growth.
Animations simplify biology for teaching. They are not a claim that this peptide works this way in people.
What the research shows
Animal data are encouraging. Human evidence is limited, and FDA reviewers found it not well characterized.
Safety and considerations
Long-term human safety is unknown. It promotes blood vessel growth, a concern with any cancer history. Banned in competitive sport.
