U.S. regulatory status
Not FDA-approved. Removed from FDA’s Category 2 list in April 2026, then recommended (8–6) for the 503A list in July 2026 for ulcerative colitis. FDA has not finalized that decision. Not currently offered.
What it is
BPC-157 is a 15-amino-acid sequence derived from a protein in gastric juice. It does not occur in this exact form in the body.
How it is thought to work
Animal studies suggest it supports new blood vessel growth, nitric oxide signaling and the protective lining of the gut.
Animations simplify biology for teaching. They are not a claim that this peptide works this way in people.
What the research shows
Dozens of rodent studies show faster healing of gut, tendon and muscle injuries. Human data are limited to a few small reports. The use FDA actually reviewed was ulcerative colitis.
Safety and considerations
Long-term human safety is unknown. Because it promotes blood vessel growth, anyone with active cancer or a history of cancer should be especially cautious. Gray-market products often fail purity testing.
Our position
We position BPC-157 as a gut-lining agent, the indication FDA evaluated, not as a tendon shortcut. Prepare and watch; not offered today.
